Pretty much get the amazing beach to ourself at Bear Island. Water is absolutely incredible (perfect/warm), and only like stomach high for 100s of yards. Took a while to canoe...
I've been there!!!!!!must find the pics..probably 6 years .had to take a small Ferry over and I was the only person on the beach...but there were huge flies can't remember which..they bit the crap out of me lol!!!!!!
Oooooohhhh!!!no see ums..I m just now reading this....I mentioned them in my previous post..but I think there were also yellow jacks when I was there!!!terrible indeed!!!!!
Yeah, me and my father had to canoe to the island because they won't allow dogs on the Ferry 😹. It took about 3 HOURS because we had to fight against the current! 😥 Warning: *Sunscreen EXTREMELY Advised* However the beach was awesome, water felt nice, and like you said there is major privacy. Just gotto always prepare to fight against the Sun, and invisible bugs 👍
yeah i can imagine, that's a long canoe ride!!!... i don't know what the flies where, for sure there were the no-see-ums, but were there yellow jacks, or even horse flies?, i dont' remember, but on the way back from beach to ferry i kept having to whip my towel in all directions to keep these flies off... it was really bad lol!!
Lol yeah. My guess is that they come and go depending on the time of year. There were MANY different types of flying insects as well. I guess the the Noseeums were just the ones we noticed most because of the wind stopping and stuff. Even other campers said that they stayed awake for most of the night. They were so bad, we left after the first night. It feels like the only escape is taking a swim in the ocean lol
Ikr, we used to live in AZ, and it also used to get very high temperatures, but if you were in the shade your fine. This humidity allows the heat to float around and it makes it so difficult to play sports and be active 😫. But I still do it a few hours a day, gotto be active and fit this summer 👍
